The Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Initiative is Israel’s national project to make the southern part of Israel an independent area, sustained exclusively by renewable energy resources by 2020.
The initiative operates under the Eilat and Eilot regional municipalities and has been advocating Renewable Energy as a catalyst for regional development for the last 4 years.
It is an ideal setting for this ambitious but attainable goal. Eilat is where the Negev desert meets the Red Sea. Solar and Wind Energy combined with Energy Efficiency in this mini metropolis can act as catalyst for regional economic development as well. Entering our fourth year we are witnessing significant progress. Consortiums of companies are being set up to develop the required technologies that will be exportable throughout the Globe. This includes pilot projects and demonstration projects by both local and international companies.
